Best Practices for Amplifier Cables
When using your effects loop, how you position your cables can greatly affect your tone and noise.
When setting up your cables, keep the following in mind:
- Always use high-quality shielded guitar cables.
- Amplifier transformers can induce noise into cables that are too close to them; always run cables away from the amp.
- Avoid running cables over the top of the amplifier or close to the side of the amp.
- Run cables straight down from the effects loop and along the bottom of the amplifier when possible.
Failure to properly arrange cables in the effects loop may result in excessive noise or ground hum in your guitar signal.
