What are the differences in TAP, SPLIT, and ISOLATED SPLIT Pickups?
The definitions of these three wiring types are as follows:
TAP: A coil tap uses part of one coil and leaves the 2nd coil fully active.
SPLIT: A coil split turns off one of the coils by shorting it to ground and leaves the 2nd coil fully active.
ISOLATED SPLIT: An isolated coil split removes one of the coils from the circuit and leaves the 2nd coil fully active.
