Nickel Plating
Blue Magic Liquid Metal Polish works very well in removing tarnish and maintaining PRS nickel hardware.
Gold & Smoked Black Nickel Plating
We do not recommend metal polishes on gold or smoked black hardware; the plating is thin and susceptible to wearing away with frequent polishing. To clean and polish this type of hardware, we recommend using furniture polish on a clean cloth.
Electroless Plating
The PRS Silver Sky and SE Silver Sky saddles are plated using Electroless plating. Electroless plating is a vintage style of plating that is very thin and is more prone to rusting than modern plating without consistent care.
We recommend wiping down the bridge and saddles after every use. A thin coating of machine oil or carnauba wax will add a protective layer to the bridge hardware to help prevent rusting.
Strings
To get the longest life out of your strings, we recommend wiping down the strings with a clean, dry cloth after each use.
Dirty, corroded, or worn strings will cause loss of sustain and treble frequencies, and may even result in faulty intonation and tuning instability. Fresh strings will not only improve the overall tone of the instrument, but it will also make the instrument more enjoyable to play.
