Tap, split, isolated split, and EQ refer to the switching options that change the output of an individual humbucker pickup. The definitions of these wiring types are as follows:
TAP: A coil tap uses part of one coil and leaves the second coil fully active. As of 2025, all SE models with tapping capabilities utilize this configuration.
SPLIT: A coil split turns off one of the coils by shorting it to ground and leaves the second coil fully active.
ISOLATED SPLIT: An isolated coil split removes one of the coils from the circuit and leaves the second coil fully active. As of 2025, no models in standard production utilize this wiring configuration.
EQ: An EQ circuit fine-tunes the tonal quality of the instrument by removing shelved low-end and allowing the high frequencies through for more clarity and musical highs.
Note that specifications are subject to change without prior notice.
